Elks Awards Day - 2019

Southeast Community College gymnasium set the stage for Youth Night on Monday, May 6, 2019. Many Elks were in attendance to help recognize 41 scholarship winners and more than 225 Lincoln area high school juniors who excelled in their areas of interest. Attendance was well in excess of 400 students, faculty, and parents. Larry Schwindt gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance; E.R. Harry Montag gave the welcome, Larry Bratt PER served as Master of Ceremonies, and yours truly (Laurie Montag) brought up the caboose. All in attendance were treated to cookies and beverages at the conclusion of the event.

This event marks the culmination of the 2018-2019 student recognition season, which began with Teen of the Year in March. These events require hours upon hours of preparation by Lodge 80 volunteers, from our first contact with school personnel to the actual event itself. I dare not attempt to list all those involved for fear of missing someone; however, I offer a hearty Elk Thank-You to all those who, in many different ways, volunteered their time to make these events happen.
